Hey guys welcome back to the blog! I wanted to take a minute to share a few of my favorite fall activities/ crafts! Part of getting into the spirit of the holidays is participating in festive gatherings, doing festive things, drinking festive drinks, eating festive food, you know the drill. Doing something relating to the season of the year always makes me feel more in touch with myself, nature, and ultimately, God. When I feel more whole I search the world less. As Christians, we are called to be in, but not of the world, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun and live a fulfilling life! It just means that you are placing God in the center and using the worldly things to leverage for your purpose on Earth (to lead other people to Christ through the way that you live and act). So, here are some ways to have fun!

In regards to activities, there are many things that I love attending/ doing that, unfortunately, because of COVID I was not able to do this year. Still, I tried to do as many festive things as I could!

Here are my favorite things to do!

Take a hike!

I love hiking, especially in the fall when the leaves paint the sky. It looks like a real-life Bob Ross painting. Who doesn’t want that?!

If you’re in Ohio, I highly recommend going to Cuyahoga Valley to hike. There are a multitude of trails to pick from as well as various waterfall hikes. It is gorgeous and definitely worth the drive!

If you are looking to travel further, look into the National Parks. They are beautiful and open, allowing for social distancing. The only thing; if you are looking for foliage, you may want to look into a National Forest rather than a National Park.

Go to a local fall festival/ craft show

A lot of these have been moved outside this year, which is awesome, because to be frank, I like outdoor festivals more! You get to be surrounded by nature, which stimulates your brain.

Have a picnic

Use all of your favorite festive foods and have a picnic! Even if it’s in your backyard or at the local park, it is still a nice way to get into the spirit of fall and enjoy the last days of semi-warmth.

Tailgate in your front yard

In my house we watch college football! Every Saturday we all congregate around the TV and watch our favorite teams together. Our favorite collectively is the Sooners, but we also watch OSU. My favorite team is the Sooners, but I do root for the Bucks, don’t worry. If you also watch football, tailgate beforehand in your driveway! You can invite the neighbors and make an affair out of it. Grill out, have a potluck, just have fun.

Pumpkin Patch

This is a ‘duh’ moment in my book. Pumpkin patches are incredibly fun and a great activity if you have kids, or if you want to get the whole family together!

Apple Orchard

Another ‘duh.’ Apple orchards don’t just have to be for you and your s/o, they can be a solo trip as well! Go grab those apples and make yourself an apple pie or crumble or crisp (honestly all of them if you want to)! Go get some fresh air and enjoy the little gratification of picking out apples.

Next up we have a few crafts. They’re mainly baking crafts, but can always share actual crafts at a later date! I LOVE crafts! Being creative and focusing on doing something with my hands is sometimes just what I need. My favorite crafts are best completed during the winter/ fall months because it begins to get colder and, unless you are crazy, you will be spending more time inside than outside.

Dried orange garland

Most people wouldn’t think of this, but garlands add a touch of the season to your home. Homemade garlands are a great way to clear out any old fruit that you may have and repurpose it into something that can last for a few more months! Plus, oranges smell amazing with fall scents like cinnamon and pumpkin. So good!

Homemade candles

If you are feeling really creative, make your own candles! I use soy wax and buy the scents and wicks from a candle company. Essential oils produce great smells when burning homemade candles! But, if you aren’t in the mood, just go to Bath and Body or Target and grab a few of your favorite scents!

Sugar cookie decorating

This may not be as obvious for fall as it is for Christmas. You can cut out pumpkins and leaves and decorate them to your heart's content!

Homemade rice krispies

Who doesn’t love a good rice krispie? Honestly, I look forward to making these with my nephews every year. It’s so much fun! You can make them homemade, or buy them and have everyone cut them/ mold them into the shapes of their choice!

I hope y’all enjoyed this list and found it helpful! Thanks for reading!

Ali
